Module 1: Introduction to AutoCAD Mechanical

  • Overview of AutoCAD Mechanical
    • Introduction to AutoCAD software and its applications in mechanical design.
    • Difference between AutoCAD and AutoCAD Mechanical.
  • User Interface and Navigation
    • Understanding the AutoCAD Mechanical interface.
    • Toolbars, command line, and ribbon.
    • Navigation tools: Pan, Zoom, and Viewports.
  • Basic Drawing Setup
    • Setting up units, limits, and scales.
    • Working with template files.
    • Introduction to layers and their management.

Module 2: Basic Drawing and Editing Commands

  • Drawing Commands
    • Line, Circle, Arc, Rectangle, Polygon, and Ellipse.
    • Precision drawing tools: Object Snap, Grid, and Snap.
  • Editing Commands
    • Move, Copy, Rotate, Mirror, Scale.
    • Trim, Extend, Fillet, and Chamfer.
    • Offset and Array (Rectangular & Polar).

Module 3: Working with Mechanical Components

  • Standard Parts and Libraries
    • Inserting standard mechanical components (Shafts, Bearings, Screws, etc.).
    • Customizing parts using the Parts Library.
  • Mechanical Layers and Layer Management
    • Managing layers specific to mechanical drawings.
    • Layer control, properties, and filtering.
  • Title Blocks and BOM (Bill of Materials)
    • Creating and editing title blocks.
    • Automating Bill of Materials creation and updating.

Module 4: Dimensioning and Annotations

  • Dimensioning Techniques
    • Types of dimensions: Linear, Angular, Radial, and Diameter.
    • Tolerances and fits.
    • Aligning and spacing dimensions.
  • Text and Annotations
    • Adding text and multi-line text (Mtext) to drawings.
    • Customizing text style and formatting.

    • Leaders and Multileaders.
    • Surface finish symbols, weld symbols, and other mechanical annotations.

Module 5: Advanced Features in AutoCAD Mechanical

  • Mechanical Symbols and Annotations
    • Using mechanical symbols for technical drawings.
    • Welding symbols, surface finish symbols.
  • Working with Assemblies
    • Creating and managing assembly drawings.
    • Exploded views and part detailing.
  • Hatching and Gradient
    • Applying hatch patterns for sectional views.
    • Using gradient fills.

Module 6: Parametric Design and Constraints

  • Parametric Constraints
    • Understanding geometric and dimensional constraints.
    • Applying constraints to control design intent.
  • Working with Equations

Module 7: Plotting and Output

1. Educational Background

  • Basic Level Course:
    • Minimum qualification: High School Diploma (10th/12th Grade or equivalent).
    • Preferred: Diploma or certification in mechanical or related fields.
  • Advanced Level Course:
    • Minimum qualification: Diploma/Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related technical field.
    • Preferred: Prior experience or coursework in mechanical drafting or engineering design.

2. Technical Knowledge

  • Basic Knowledge of Computers:

    • Familiarity with basic computer operations like file management, using Windows or Mac OS, and simple software applications.
  • Mechanical Fundamentals (For Advanced Course):

    • Understanding of basic mechanical principles and components such as gears, bearings, shafts, etc.

3. Prior Software Experience

  • Basic Course:
    • No prior AutoCAD or CAD software experience is required.
  • Advanced Course:
    • Familiarity with any CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA) is recommended but not mandatory.

4. Other Requirements

  • Interest in Mechanical Design:

    • A keen interest in learning and applying mechanical drafting and design principles.
